Mammography (or mammogram) is the safest and most effective method in screening for breast cancer, and is recommended for women aged above 50.
How do I prepare for a Mammogram?
- Please leave your jewellery at home, and do not apply deodorant, perfume, or talcum powder as these may affect the quality of the images obtained.
- If you are pre-menopausal, book your appointment during the mid-menstrual cycle when your breasts are usually less tender.
- Inform the radiographer of any significant past medical history before the start of the examination.
- No fasting required.
